Discover Our Mission and Vision for Healing
The mission of Sanchez Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, LLC is to provide compassionate, accessible, evidence-based behavioral health and recovery services that meet people where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.
We believe recovery is more than abstinence, treatment is more than a diagnosis, and people are more than the worst thing that has ever happened to them. Every person carries a story shaped by experiences, culture, family, trauma, strengths, challenges, and hope. Our responsibility is not to judge that story, but to understand it and help each person write what comes next.
Our mission is rooted in dignity, accountability, compassion, education, cultural understanding, neurodiversity, and lived experience. We recognize that meaningful change rarely follows a single path. Through counseling, assessments, structured groups, telehealth, recovery support, family education, prevention, and community partnerships, we work to remove barriers and make quality services accessible to individuals and families throughout New Mexico.
We are committed to serving people who are too often misunderstood, overlooked, stigmatized, or reduced to a label—including individuals affected by substance use, trauma, mental-health challenges, involvement with the justice system, autism and neurodivergence, and other difficult life experiences.
Our purpose extends beyond treatment. We seek to educate families, strengthen communities, advocate for vulnerable people, challenge stigma, and create opportunities for lasting change.
At Sanchez Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, we believe darkness can be part of a person’s journey without becoming their destination.
Our mission is to help people find their strength, understand their story, reclaim their purpose, and build a path forward—one person, one family, and one community at a time.

Our Dedicated Licensed Professionals
About Edward Sanchez Jr.
I am Edward Sanchez Jr., MSP/BH, LADAC, Founder and Executive Director of Sanchez Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, LLC. My work in behavioral health has been shaped not only by education and professional experience, but also by lived experience, recovery, family, culture, and a belief that people are far more than the struggles they have faced.
I hold a Master’s degree in Behavioral Health Psychology, am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) in New Mexico, and have completed extensive doctoral-level study in cognitive psychology. Throughout my career, I have worked in substance use treatment, prevention and intervention, intensive outpatient services, behavioral intervention, family support, case management, education, and community advocacy.
My professional experience has allowed me to work with adults, youth, families, schools, courts, probation systems, behavioral health agencies, and community organizations. I have developed and facilitated educational programs addressing substance use disorders, trauma, adverse childhood experiences, autism, mental health, ethics, recovery, and personal growth.
My connection to this work is also deeply personal. I have been in long-term recovery since 1997, giving me nearly three decades of lived experience with recovery and the process of rebuilding a life. I understand that recovery is about much more than simply stopping a behavior. It can mean rebuilding relationships, discovering identity, developing purpose, learning to live differently, and finding hope when life has given you plenty of reasons to lose it.
I am also an author, educator, trainer, speaker, and advocate. My writing and educational projects have addressed autism across the lifespan, sensory differences, substance use and autism, men’s mental health, trauma, recovery, and wellness for law enforcement and military. My goal is to take complicated behavioral-health concepts and make them understandable, practical, and useful to real people and families.
Community service has remained an important part of my life as well. For more than a decade, I have served in leadership with Guardians of the Children, advocating for children and families affected by abuse and helping ensure that children facing some of the hardest moments of their lives know they do not have to face them alone.
I founded Sanchez Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, LLC because I wanted to create something built around people rather than systems—services that recognize culture, lived experience, neurodiversity, dignity, accountability, and individual strengths. Through telehealth, counseling, assessments, structured groups, recovery support, education, and community partnerships, my goal is to make quality behavioral-health and recovery services more accessible throughout New Mexico.
At the center of everything I do is a simple belief:
People are not defined by the darkest chapter of their lives. With support, accountability, understanding, and opportunity, that chapter can become part of the story—not the end of it

Compassionate Care, Proven Results
At Sanchez Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, compassionate care means seeing the person before the diagnosis, the behavior, or the circumstances that brought them through our doors. We provide a respectful, nonjudgmental environment where people are heard, understood, challenged when necessary, and supported as they work toward meaningful change.
Our approach combines evidence-based practices, professional experience, education, and lived experience to provide services that are practical, individualized, and focused on real-life outcomes. We understand that no two people arrive with the same story, and no single approach works for everyone.
For us, proven results are about more than completing a program. They are reflected in healthier choices, increased accountability, stronger relationships, improved coping skills, reduced harmful behaviors, greater stability, and the ability to maintain recovery beyond treatment.
We don’t simply ask, “What’s wrong?” We work to understand what happened, what is happening now, what strengths already exist, and what needs to happen next.
Compassion guides how we serve. Evidence guides how we practice. Lasting change is the goal.
